Our Humble Beginnings

Family Roots

USI stands for United Services Inc. which is a family owned corporation of Daniel Leadingham, with over 30 years of diversified business experience ranging from franchising service companies to manufacturing industrial cleaning chemicals. We purchased a Vertical Blinds Fabricating Company, (Start-Up 1991) located in Jeffersonville, Indiana (across the river from Louisville, Ky as shown in pic) and soon the whole family fell in love with the uniqueness of the Window Covering Industry. There was something very special about the family, three sons and a daughter working together crafting products in our small shop that we took pride in. Our motto was “we’re not the biggest but we can be the best.”

Blinds — Our Speciality

For twenty years, USI has specialized in building and wholesaling Blinds and various window coverings, serving retail window covering dealers, interior design professionals, carpet stores, wallpaper and flooring dealers, architects and general contractors. Beginning around 2003 we first began to focus our marketing efforts toward working with affiliates who were service professionals with a client base that does now / or soon will need our products and services. Working more directly with the homeowners through these affiliates enabled us to control the customers experience with purchasing and owning our products while offering even more competitive pricing along with providing specialized services. This change was greatly due to the window covering products becoming more sophisticated and requiring more expertise in representation and installation.

Our customers have come to rely on us for all their window covering needs. Whether it’s a room of custom wood blinds, or a house full of motorized plantation shutters, they know we provide products, support, value, and service that makes their purchase both cost effective and customer friendly. About Us When we started out, we were a fabricator of custom vertical blinds and later wood blinds. We still sell our own brand – MyChoice Blinds, which we believe are the best quality blinds available on the market. But over the years, we’ve expanded our product offering to include all types of motorization systems and timers, plantation shutters, woven woods, commercial shades and a full complete line of other window coverings. We invented and filed the patent for Topview, todays most innovative blind that allows the option of closing the bottom portion while leaving a top portion with an open view. Our name — USI Custom Blinds — hearkens back to those original days of fabricating only Vertical Blinds. But, today our registered trademark “WindowDecor.com” is a one-stop source for all your window decor needs. Our extensive and complete line of products including the top name brands as Hunter Douglas offered with Full Service Plus.
Today we’re large enough to provide you with the best values in window coverings, but small enough to give you that personalized support!
